Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8 years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Progeny Systems, a business area within the General Dynamics Mission Systems company, is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. This program, Undersea Warfare Decision Support Systems (USW-DSS) delivers architectures, designs, testing, and production of the current and next generation integrated software system for the United States Navy and foreign navies. USW-DSS enables the networking of ASW forces to collaboratively plan and execute ASW missions. USW-DSS contains applications for environmental analysis, collaborative search planning, force management, sharing a common tactical picture with networked tactical decision aids, sensor tracks and sensor metrics, automated and manual cross-platform track fusion, search execution measures of effectiveness, graphics storage, recall, and ASW briefing support. The applications also improve effectiveness by decreasing the time required to search an area to a desired probability of detection. As the Lead System Integrator on the USW-DSS program, you will have voting membership in the government's Technical Review Boards to manage the Software/System baselines. You will be lead the team in the planning, integrating, securing, and validating USW-DSS software baselines presenting OQE to the deployment authorization board. You will also own designing, building, and maintaining the development and deployment hosting infrastructure. This role includes working directly with the customer Technical Director and Lead System Engineer to track and realize evolving program objectives. The ideal candidate is a systems engineer with a strong software background and experience with both networking hardware and software. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: As the USW-DSS Lead System Integrator and Chief Engineer, you will typically work in the following areas: Provide technical leadership, mentoring. direction and review of system development including requirements definition, architectural designs, prototyping and work breakdown to accomplish completed products on schedule with program increments. Work includes identifying and hiring personnel resources required. Use JIRA, BitBucket, and Confluence to plan, coordinate and monitor the team tasks and SW deliveries (both external and internal). Keep Program leadership informed of program progress and help manage/mitigate risks. Aggregate and moderate the team inputs to the weekly and Monthly program Status Reports Lead the team to Build/Secure and Monitor networked open Virtualization host environments and DEVOPS processes thar support Collaborative Virtual Integration environments. Work includes HW selection and procurement. Participate as voting member in program technical leadership meetings to review plans, monitor execution, and adjudicate program issues. Work with the program System Engineering and technical leadership teams to identify, scope and plan incremental updates of capability Review and release semi-annual SW installation packages to support updates in the fleet. Work includes remote and onsite support to the Installers and warfighters Perform Task/Budget estimates in coordination with Progeny's program manager to support customer budget allocations Be available as required for Tier 3 support of remote issues with the program Potentially travel to assist/train the Installation team on new installations Coordinate responses from the first/second tier support personnel to identify where we can improve the support documentation KEY INTERFACES: Internal (Program Management, Security, Purchasing, Property Management, Facilities, Bids&Proposals, Production) Customer (NAVSEA PEOIWS5, Theater Command Centers) Developers/Engineers (L3 Harris, Moebious, Metron, Wagner, Liedos, QSI, Serco, NRLSSC, NSWCCD, NUWCKPT[LSE, ISEA, Dev] , NUWCNPT[TDA, Dev, ISSO], , JHU/APL) Labs (NIWC CANES, PMW770 SOA Network, LMCO ASW, PMW130 HBSS, NUWCKPT ISEA) Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with IaaS platforms (e.g., AWS, RedHat Virtualization). Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Packer). Familiarity with PaaS solutions (e.g., RedHat OpenShift, VMware Tanzu). Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI). Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with security best practices in virtualized environments. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). Experience with Linux operating systems (e.g., RedHat) Professional Experience: Experience in or working with Navy theater sites or labs, Surface or Undersea, and/or USW-DSS systems. Achievements in automating infrastructure deployment and management. Examples of implementing security measures in CI/CD pipelines. Specific projects involving IaC, IaaS, and PaaS. Administration and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems.
