Job Description:

SLAIT Consulting is currently seeking a Java Developer for a contract to hire position in Lynchburg, VA. This position will serve as the developer for enterprise web services in support of the US Life Insurance Companies business unit.

Basic Qualifications:

* 3 to 5 years of experience working in the IT industry.

* Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Java and Webservices (SOAP/XML)

* Proficient in Java and J2EE application architecture.

* Expert in XML design and transformation.

* Proficient in developing orchestrated transactions using commercial workflow engines.

* Experience integrating legacy mainframe systems using standard messaging technologies and proprietary solutions.

* Able to work with and provide technical leadership to diverse, co-located and remote teams.

* Strong communication skills with ability to articulate problems and solutions with Business and Technology leaders.

* Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and multi-task across multiple work streams.

Preferred Qualifications:

* WebSphere Application Server experience.

* Experience developing ACORD-based Web Services

* Experience with WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Integration Developer (WID).

* Experience with IBM Datapower and XSLT transformations.

Responsibilities:

* Serve as Java/Webservices developer on a technical team supporting the enterprise data service needs

* Develop reusable data services that provide consistent data across multiple client applications

* Define enterprise messaging and real-time data integration standards

* Research emerging integration technologies; ensure company remains a SOA leader in the insurance industry

* Manage software and hardware on-boarding and obsolescence in conjunction with Datacenter team

* Estimate project costs

* Participate in audit, attestation and risk assessment processes

* Partner with Business and Technology teams to ensure optimal solutions that meet or exceed performance expectations
